Burglars allegedly decamped with gold, silver jewelry and cash worth about Rs 20 lakh by breaking into four apartments in Patia area of Odisha capital in the wee hours today.
The burglars after breaking open apartment nos. 309 & 409 of A2 block and 202 and 203 of B block of Om Sai Arcade in Kalarahanga area on the Patia railway station road looted gold, silver ornaments and cash valued at around Rs 20 lakh. The incident took place when the occupants were away from their homes.
“They have taken away everything. They have taken away around ten tolas of gold that we had kept for our younger son’s marriage and ornaments belonging to my elder son and daughter-in-law who stay in Mumbai and some cash,” said Suniti Panda, an occupant whose apartment was burgled when she was away from her home.
Dog squad and scientific team were pressed into service to get crucial leads into the burglaries.
