Car runs over man defecating on roadside in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A car ran over a man defecating on roadside on State Highway-65 near Panchagaon under Tigiria police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district today.

The man, identified as Dharanidhara Behera of Panchagaon, and Lata Nayak and Sujata Nayak, two of the four occupants of the vehicle, sustained critical injuries in the mishap as the car overturned on roadside after hitting him this morning around 5 am.

According to reports, the incident took place when the four persons were returning in the vehicle after attending a wedding ceremony in Badamba area. The car ran over Dharanidhara as the driver dozed off.

The three victims were rescued by locals and admitted to the Athagarh Hospital for treatment. They were later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack city as their condition deteriorated.

Police have seized the car and started an investigation.
