CCTVs to be installed in buses in Odisha

Keeping in view the safety of passengers, the Odisha government has decided to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all government and private buses plying across the state.

Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi informed that CCTV cameras will be installed in 4000 government buses by July 31. Similarly, private bus owners have been asked to install CCTV cameras within three months, he said.

“The tender process for installation of CCTV cameras is in final stage. Vehicle Tracking and Passenger Information System will also be implemented. Apart from this, Volvo bus service of Odisha State Regional Transport Corporation (OSRTC) will begin. On trial basis, the service will be started in Cuttack-Berhampur, Keonjhar-Bhubaneswar, Jeypore-Rajmahendri and Bisakhapatnam-Jagdalpur routes in the first phase,” said Majhi.
