Centre approves 50 additional MBBS seats for KIMS in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 3:

The Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved 50 more MBBS seats for the  Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a constituent of the Bhubaneswar-based  KIIT University in Odisha.kims

The ministry has increased the number of seats in KIMS from 100 to 150 for the 2014 -15 academic year under Section 10A of IMC Act, 1956 following recommendations of Medical Council of India (MCI) on June 10 this year.

Recently, a team of MCI officials had conducted a complete verification of KIMS regarding its infrastructural facilities in terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, buildings, equipment and hospital facilities as per MCI’s norm and satisfied with the existing infrastructure of the institute.

Founder, KIIT and KIMS Dr Achyut Samanta has thanked Centre, MCI and the Odisha government for approving additional seats in KIMS.
