Class IX student from Odisha selected as NASA’s data scientist

Baripada: A Class IX student made the State and country proud to have opportunity to work with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as the data scientist.

The little scientist Sumit Sahoo from Baripada town of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district was appointed for the world’s reputed space institution as the junior data scientist.

He got huge success at very little age along with the student scholarship award of Rs 10,000 per month for next 28 years from this academic session.

Sumit, the student of Satya Sai Vidya Mandir, was selected for the NASA after he secured second position in an international level examination held on August 31 in New Delhi.

Earlier, he had topped an all India level examination conducted on August 12 in Bhubaneswar and was placed second in a state level online examination for the post of junior data scientist conducted by the NASA in July.

The 14-year-old boy will get free education in the US after he clears matriculation examination with over 61 percent. After completion of his study, he will be offered to work as the chief data scientist at the NASA.
