The Congress today claimed that the ruling BJD, which was hitherto silent, has suddenly started targeting the BJP-led NDA out of panic since Rahul Gandhi had exposed the state  government’s failures. The party said the BJD was in a terrified state after Rahul’s visit.

“It’s quite clear that the failures and misrule of the Naveen Patnaik government were exposed by Rahulji during his visit in a very meticulous manner. It’s loud and clear that the BJD is terrified,” said Prasad Harichandan briefing newsmen here.

“During his visit to the state, Rahulji had exposed the secret understanding between the BJD and BJP. The BJD, which is now in a state of panic in a desperate bid to hoodwink the people of the state, has now started to speak against the NDA government at the Centre and its negligence of the state,” Harichandan stated.

Harichandan accused the BJD of remaining silent despite scrapping of several Central schemes and programmes and cut in funds for Odisha by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and its neglect of  Odisha ever since BJP-led NDA came to power last year.

The OPCC president attacked the Naveen Patnaik led government for failing on all fronts. He accused it of failing to wake up and take concrete steps while the state was reeling under drought. The people of the state have been pushed into darkness due to serious power crisis, while healthcare and education sectors are in doldrums.

Unveiling the party’s plan to rejuvenate the organisation at the grassroots level. Harichandan said; “As part of the exercise to strengthen the organisation, one vice president and a general secretary would be given charge of a Lok Sabha and Assembly seat respectively.”

The meeting of office bearers of OPCC was attended by AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha BK Hariprasad.
