Counselling for MBBS, BDS admission begins in Odisha

Authorities of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) today began the counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the state.

counselling for medical admissionA total of 2911 students, who have qualified the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT), are participating in the counselling being held at the SCB Medical College and Hospital premises in Cuttack, the nodal centre chosen by the OJEE .

“We have asked the students to register their name online on the OJEE website www.ojee.nic.in  by August 28,” OJEE chairman Dr Tusharkant Nath said.

Stating that of the total of 650 MBBS and 150 BDS seats in the state, OJEE would conduct the counselling for 85 percent of the seats, the OJEE chairman informed that there would be no admission to 100 seats each in the Hi-Tech Medical College in Rourkela and Sardar Rajas Medical College in Kalahandi and 50 out of the 150 seats in city based Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) as per the directive of the Medical Council of India (MCI) on the grounds of lack of adequate infrastructure.

Giving details of the admission process, OJEE secretary Priyabrata Sahu said verification of documents would be held from August 29 to September 1.

The first phase seat allotment would be made on September 6. The students will have to report at the JEE Cell in Bhubaneswar for provisional admission between September 7 and 11.

OJEE will announce the list of vacant seats on September 12.

The second phase choice filling would be held on September 13 and 14 while the seat allotment would be made on September 15. The list of vacant seats would be announced on September 19.

The third phase choice filling would be held on September 20 and 21 and the seat allotment would be made on September 23.

Spot admission for the vacant seats would be held on September 29, Sahu added.
