Criminal injured, two arrested in Odisha police encounter

Cuttack, May 22:

A dreaded criminal identified as Younus Khan was injured in an encounter with Odisha police here today.

The incident happened at Bikas Bhawan of Badambadi area at about 1:30 PM today  Younus had come to the place along with a couple of his aides.

Special Squad of Commissionerate Police raided the place in plain clothes after getting tipoff from their sources.

As per eyewitness, Younus opened fire at the special squad cops who were there to arrest him following a scuffle. The cops retaliated back and shot at his leg injuring him. They also managed to nab one of his aides. None from the police team has sustained any injury.

Both have been detained by the cops and are being questioned.

It may be noted that Younus has many complaints pertaining to tender fixing and extortion against him in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts and was in the wanted list of Commissionerate Police.  He was on the run for quite come time.

Both the arrested will be produced in the court today, police said.
