Cuttack to undergo beautification for Hockey World Cup opening ceremony

Cuttack: The millennium city will undergo major beautification for the opening ceremony of the Hockey World Cup on January 11.

Concerned officials yesterday visited the Barabati Stadium, where the event will be held, and reviewed the preparations.

As a part of the project, beautification will be carried out on both sides of the Ring Rod in the city. This apart, parking facilities will be well-organised, said Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Nikhil Pavan Kalyan.

In the first phase, the work will be undertaken from Sikharpur to Bidanasi. Road repairing, beautification of road dividers, creation of colourful footpath, cement benches, parks, recreation centres among other activities will be carried out.

Besides, entry and exits points of the city will be decorated with light.

The international sporting event will be held from 13th January to 29th January, 2023 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
