Demand for HC bench in western Odisha intensifies

Sambalpur: The demand for establishment of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in western part of the state has once again gained momentum as members of Sambalpur District Bar Association today resorted to a dharna at the Nelson Mandela Chhak here.

The association has also decided to close down all the courts in the district from today till September 20, the concluding day of the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

This apart, the sit-in protest will take place from 10 am to 5 pm everyday till September 20, a member of the association said.

The lawyers’ body has threatened to shut down offices of the district Collector, RDC, Registrar, RTO and Election Commission as a part of the protest.
