District malaria officer accused of molesting woman arrested

Barbil, Oct 20:
The district malaria officer in Barbil has been arrested on charges of outraging the modesty of a married woman who had visited him for treatment.

The 19-year-old woman had come to the district malaria officer Dr Nirmal Kumar Nayak for an abortion, when he allegedly outraged her modesty, on Monday.
“She has complained at the police station and we have registered a case under section 324 B here. Initial investigation shows that the victim’s statement about outrage of modesty might be true,” said Barbil SDPO.
Police have arrested Nayak yesterday and he has been forwarded to court after interrogation, police said.
Later, husband of the woman beat the doctor black and blue and informed the police.
