Five Maoists arrested in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Five Maoists were arrested during a combing operation in Tekguda forest area in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today.

They have been identified as Madhi Ganga (26), Irma Kabasi (35), Irma Kabasi (30), Bhima Madkami (30) and Anda Madi (21) of Peda Tekguda village under Kalimela police station limits.

Briefing newsmen here, Malkangiri SP Mitrabhuanu Mohapatra said the BSF and the DVF personnel were on a joint combing operation in the Tekguda forest area this morning following information about the congregation of some Maoist cadres.

During the operation, the security personnel nabbed the five Maoists inside the forest area.

During interrogation, the arrested Maoists confessed to their involvement in a series of violent activities including the blasting of a school building at Bejangiwada, murder of Kartik of MPV-66 village suspecting him to be a police informer, landmine blast at Tekguda in 2008, blasting of mine-proof van near Ippuguda village killing 17 policemen in 2008, firing near Marigetta village in October, 2008, exchange of fire near Gomphakonda village in 2009, exchange of fire near Beheraguda village in 2010, Jaga of village Urubel, suspecting him to be a police informer, killing of a Bengali of Tatimetla village under Motu police station limits and  attack on CISF unit at Damonjodi in Koraput.
