For the first time, Odisha CM to go on air to address students

Bhubaneswar: Taking a leaf from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to address lakhs of school students on this Children’s Day on television for the first time in his tenure as Odisha Chief Minister.

The 45-minute televised speech will be aired on Doordarshan from 11.15 am to 12 noon on November 14.

The media shy Patnaik will be addressing more than 6, 60, 000 students from around 62, 000 schools across the state.

For this, School and Mass Education Department has instructed the school administration to make arrangement for television sets, including hiring the device in case they do not have one.

The department has also suggested schools to conduct a debate and essay competition on various topics, including on Patnaik’s recent felicitation by a national media house where he was awarded as administrator.

Participants from Class VIII to X will debate on topic ‘Proud Odisha: Our CM Got Best Administrator Award’.

The school managements have been asked to conduct preparatory meeting on Nov 11 for smooth conduct of the programme.

Interestingly, it was announced over a year ago that Patnaik would address people on radio for 10 minutes every month. The ‘Biju Gaon Radio’ Programme, however, is yet to see the light of the day.
