Golak Naik resigns from BJP; ‘betrayal’, says party

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Feb 22:

Former BJP minister Golak Bihari Naik resigned from BJP’s primary membership today. Naik alleged that he was resigning as he was not happy with the high handed daeling of some top leaders of the party.

He said he will decide on his future course of action after due consultations with people in his constituency.

Naik, a former MLA from Khunta assembly constituency, had met chief minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Nivas on Thursday leading to speculation that he might join the BJD.

Naik, however, had dismissed such speculation over his visit saying it was a ‘personal’ visit. He had, however, said that “Everything is possible in politics.”

Meanwhile, BJP state unit president Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo has described Nayak’s resignation from the party as an act of ‘betrayal’.
