Group clash in Odisha’s BJB College, 4 injured

Bhubaneswar, May 3:

At least four students of BJB Autonomous College of Odisha capital were critically injured this afternoon following a group clash.

The injured students have been rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment. They have been identified as B.Com final year students.

As per a source in the college, a group of students with the help of some non-students attacked the victims in front of the college main gate while they were returning after appearing their final year viva-voce.

Tension gripped the campus following the incident and three platoons of forces have been deployed there as a precautionary measure.

Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, “We are keeping a close watch on the issue. Investigation is on”.

The victims demanded rustication of the involved students and immediate arrest of the nonstudents.

“We demand arrest of the culprits within 24 hours, failing which we will go for a protest tomorrow,” said BJB Autonomous College students’ union President Lagnajeet Patra.

Principal BJB College Prof Mohammed Nawaz said, “An FIR has been registered with the police against three and police will take necessary action”.
