GRP arrest train robber, associate

Bhubaneswar, July 24:

Government Railway Police (GRP) Bhubaneswar today arrested a hard core criminal, involved in as many as 20 cases registered in GRP and other police stations in the city, and his associate for their alleged role in committing theft in a running train.

They were nabbed from the Howrah-Chennai Mail while committing the crime.

The accused identified as Sk Islam alias Kadam of Medinipur of West Bengal and Raju Majhi of Bhadrak were booked under sections 379, 34 of IPC. They were forwarded to a local court today.

GRP have recovered one bike, hard cash and medicines from their possession.

As many as 20 criminal cases, including under the Arms Act, are pending against the accused Kadam in different police stations in the city, police said.

GRP IIC said Kadam had earlier been remanded for interrogation in two cases – Bhubaneswar GRP case number-57 on June 26 and case number-66 on July 14 related to dacoity and Arms dealing.
