Heavy Rain: 2 killed in wall collapse in Odisha’s Kendrapada

Kendrapada:  With heavy rain caused by low pressure wreaking havoc in many parts of the state, two elderly persons were killed in wall collapse at separate places in Odisha’s Kendrapada district today.

Reportedly, an old man and another elderly woman died after walls of their respective houses got collapses due to heavy rain and fell on them.

The deceased have been identified as Abhay Mohapatra of Badabetara village under Garadpur block and Namrata Prusty of Dhisahi village under Derabis block.

The weathermen has issued red warning to 12 districts, including Kendrapada,

As per Regional MeT Centre, Puri received 341 mm rainfall between 8.30 AM of September 12 and 8.30 AM of September 13, which is the highest-ever recorded rainfall in the area in a span of 24 hours. Similarly, Bhubaneswar recorded highest-ever rainfall in a day in the month of September as the state capital received 195 mm of rainfall between 8.30 AM of September 12 and 8.30 AM of September 13.

Other places  that experienced intense rainfall during the last 24 hours are Paradip (219 mm), Chandbali (46 mm), Gopalpur (64 mm) and Balasore (24 mm).
