Depression over north-east Odisha, heavy rain forecast in next 24 hours

Bhubaneswar, July 21:

Yesterday’s low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha has rapidly concentrated into a depression and lay centered over Northeastern parts of Odisha and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal 50 kms east of Baripada today, the afternoon bulletin issued by the Met Centre here said, adding,  the system would move west-northwestwards.

Under its influence rain or thundershower would occur at most  places over  Odisha during next 24hours and decrease thereafter, the bulletin said while warning of isolated extremely heavy fall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over interior Odisha and one or two places over coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast, the Met centre has forecast advising fishermen not to venture into the sea during this period.
