Heavy rainfall very likely to lash 14 Odisha districts on September 3; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over 14 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today issued Yellow Warning for next five days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “Southwest monsoon has been subdued in Odisha. The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas. The cyclonic circulation over Northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood extending up to 4.5 Km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height persists. A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around 3rd September 2023. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form during subsequent 48 hours. The trough from the centre of cyclonic circulation over Northeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood to south Coastal Andhra Pradesh at 3.1 Km above mean sea level has become less marked.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum (day) temperature of 37.7oC was recorded at Chandbali and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 22.8oC was recorded at Malkangiri in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

For Sunday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 04.09.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh.
