Hotter days ahead in Odisha as mercury likely to soar: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience rise in temperature in the coming days as mercury may soar by 2-3 degree Celsius in the next couple of days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.

The effect of thunderstorm will decrease in the state while day temperature may rise with inflow of dry-hot air from north-west direction, the agency said.

Day temperature is likely to increase by 2-3 degree Celsius at a few places in Odisha during the next 2-3 days, it added.

Capital city Bhubaneswar today registered a maximum temperature of 31 degree Celsius by 8.30 AM, causing discomfort for commuters and those working outdoors.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre in its yesterday’s evening bulletin had issued thunderstorm warning (Yellow Warning) for several districts for today.

“Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri,” it had predicted.
