Huge amount of explosives seized in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

The BSF personnel seized huge explosives during combing operations in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today.

Malkangiri seizure of explosives  by BSFAccording to reports, the Central forces, acting on a tip-off about a Maoist camp running inside Sishaguda forest, launched a combing operation in the morning.

During the operation, they came across huge cache of explosives kept inside a dump.

The explosives include 229 LP explosives, 15 kgs of gelatin, 100 PNC detonators, 15 kgs of inflammable potash, four landmines and five bundles of wire.

“Recovery of these explosives suggests that the Maoists had planned a major attack on the police”, Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra told Odisha Sun Times.

He said combing operation in the area has been intensified following this huge haul.

It may be mentioned here that following the lynching of three Maoists in Virabaram on October 20 on the Andhra-Odisha border and the death of a cadre Maoist in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh yesterday, a red alert has been sounded in Malkangiri district against possible attacks by the red ultras.

The BSF, SOG and DVF personnel have sealed the border with Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and intensified combing operations to foil the infiltration by the red rebels into the district.
