IMD issues thunderstorm, lightning warning in 9 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued lightning and thunderstorm warning in nine districts of Odisha.

The districts are Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Angul.

The alert would remain in effect from 3 pm to 7.30 pm, an IMD bulletin issued by its Regional Centre here this afternoon said.

Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty wind (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph) and hail likely to hit these districts.

The bulletin has advised people in these 9 districts to remain indoors during this period and move to safe locations like concrete houses to avoid any untoward incident.
