Bhubaneswar: For the first time, two actors from Odisha will play lead roles in a Bollywood movie.
After Anketa Maharana aka Apsara Rani, another actor from the state Odisha is making headlines by debuting in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming project ‘Thriller’. Hailed from Nabarangpur district, model-turned-actor Rock Kacchi will be seen in lead role opposite of Apsara Rani. The debutant is currently staying in Kolhapur of Maharashtra.
Introducing the newcomer, the filmmaker said Rock is another talent whom he has discovered from Odisha after Apsara.
“Thanks to Apsara Rani, I realised about Odisha. And now I discovered another talent from the state called Rock and I cast him opposite Apsara Rani in Thriller,” RGV tweeted while sharing a few pictures of both the actors from a photoshoot.

Worth mentioning, the director recently landed in controversy for his ‘insensitive’ remarks on Odisha while hailing Apsara Rani. In a series of tweets, RGV had claimed that he had never thought of Odisha as a talent hub for film industry and he did not even hear about the state even since 1999 Super Cyclone.
Before meeting Apsara,I dint even hear about Orissa since the 1999 hurricane..but after meeting her now ,I realised that Orissa creates all kinds of hurricanes..it’s been a great revelation that Orissa has such beauties ..MORE POWER TO ORISSA @apsara_rani_ pic.twitter.com/v8MStRM5ab

His remarks triggered a huge outcry among people in Odisha and outside. Netizens bashed him on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter for the remarks.
Just proves why education is so important. Art can be lost in #aag. What a fall.
Also the humble spell check could have saved the #Odisha blues. #IdiotsEverywhere. https://t.co/TI7KFQpkHg
