Jewellery worth lakhs looted from Mangla Mandir in Cuttack

Robbers have made off with all the gold ornaments of the deity in Mangala Mandir situated in the Jhanjirimangala Square in Badambadi , Cuttack on Sunday late night in Odisha.

The unidentified miscreants had broken down the temple door late last night and made off with the jewellery from the temple.
The ornaments worth lakhs were reportedly found missing when the priest came in the morning for morning rituals.

” When I came at 4:40 am to 5 am in the morning I found the lock was broken and ornaments were looted. They have taken more one kg silver and nearly 30 grams of gold”, said the temple priest.
An FIR has been filed in the Badambari police station, who have started an investigation into the crime.

“We are conducting initial investigations on the robbery, a forensic team and sniffer dogs have been called in for uncovering various links to the crime, ” a senior police officer told media.
Notably, the temple had been similarly looted 8-9 years ago, but no arrests have been made till now.
