Leopard, deer skins seized, one detained

Skins of a leopard and a deer were seized by Forest department officials on Sunday near Rangamatia under Pithabata range in the foothills of Similipal in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

According to deputy director Similipal Ajit Satpathy a person, who had purchased the skins from poachers, has been detained. He said the person was being interrogated to identify the poachers.

Satpathy said poachers had fled the place after delivering the skins, when acting on a tip-off, the forest personnel nabbed the receiver.
