Low pressure triggers widespread rainfall in Odisha, more to come

Bhubaneswar, July 13:

With rain lashing most parts of Odisha since last night under the effect of a low pressure, the local Met office, in a release here this evening, predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours.

“The low pressure, formed yesterday, now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha. Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall would at one or two places in South Odisha and coastal Odisha districts in the next 24 hours and interior Odisha in the next 48 hours”, director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Dr Sarat Sahu told the media.

Cuttack received the highest rainfall of 79.2 mm in the last 24 hours ending  5.30 pm today.

Rainfall in the other areas as follows:

Paradip (64.3), Bhubaneswar (63.9), Talcher (68),  Bolangir (44.2), Dhenkanal (70), Koraput (35.2), Angul (60), Malkangiri (33.2), Phulbani (30), Chandbali (33.7), Sonepur (23), Baleswar (21.5), Puri (20.4), Keonjhargarh (45.2), Jharsuguda (78).
