A man was trampled to death by a tusker in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district in the early hours on Thursday, a senior official of the Forest department said.
The DFO, Dhenkanal Forest Division P K Sahu said the deceased, identified as Babu Nayak (67) of Joranda Nuasahai under Gandia police limits, was sleeping outside his house when a tusker trampled him to death.
Sahu said the carcass of a three-month-old male elephant calf was also found near Thakurpal village in Kaluria GP under Gondia block in the early hours of Thursday. The calf could have been killed after falling into the nullah while it was crossing it or might have been pushed by a tusker into the nullah, he said.
