Man lands in jail for abusive posts on net

Kendrapara, Mar 23 :

A Qatar based plumber from Kendrapara district landed in jail for allegedly sending abusive messages on Facebook and through emails to a married woman here.

30-year old Sanjay Kundu of Kajalabandha village under Pattamundai police limits and employed with a private construction firm as a skilled plumber committed the cyber crime while he was in Qatar.

Kundu was arrested on Saturday after he was charged under sections 66 (A, C and D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, police said today.

Sources in the police said Kundu had come  in contact with the woman through Facebook and developed an infatuation for her. However, he was upset and angry after the woman spurned him and even deleted him from her Facebook friends’ list. He then started posting highly objectionable and abusive messages after being spurned by the woman.

Kundu who returned home from Qatar last week wanted to meet the married woman and take revenge on her.

Worried over the romantic advances made by him, the woman lodged a complaint with the police and a case was registered against Kundu.

He was finally apprehended after he walked into the trap lais by the police who has asked the lady to invite her tormentor to her home on Saturday.

Kendrapara Superintendent of Police, Rabi Narayan Behera said the accused has confessed to his crime.

Kundu was produced before a local court and on rejection of his bail plea has been sent to jail”.
