Maoists kill CRPF jawan close to Odisha border

Even as ‘Operation All Out’ jointly launched by the Andhra Pradesh the Odisha police against the Maoists along the border area is underway, the red rebels, in a desperate bid to assert their supremacy, killed a CRPF jawan in Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri district today.

According to reports, about 15-20 armed Maoists attacked Shankar Prasad, a CRPF jawan who was on duty at Katakalyan weekly haat.

The armed ultras, after overpowering him, slit open his throat with a sharp knife killing him on the spot and fled the area with the service rifle of the slain jawan.

Following information, police rushed to the spot and took the body to the Dantewada hospital for post mortem The body was later handed over to the family members after a guard of honour by the police and CRPF personnel.

Combing operation in the area has been intensified following the incident, reports said.
