Mercury hovers at 40 degrees Celsius or above in 11 places of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: People in many parts of Odisha experienced a sizzling hot day today as mercury hovered 40 degrees Celsius or above in 11 places in the State.

Most of the people preferred to stay indoors in these places as it was unbearable throughout the day. They also kept themselves hydrated so that they do not fall ill.

As per the data provided by the Regional Meteorological Centre here, out of the 11 places, Sonepur recorded the highest day temperature of 42.3 degrees Celsius followed by Balangir at 42.2 degrees Celsius.

Other places which recorded 40 degrees Celsius or above were as follows: Baripada and Titlagarh at 42 degrees Celsius, Jharsuguda at 41.8 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur 41.7 degrees Celsius, Boudh 41.5 degrees Celsius, Angul 40.9 degrees Celsius, Bhawanipatna 40.8 degrees Celsius, Hirakud 40.1 degrees Celsius and Sundargarh 40 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological centre has also issued yellow warning for districts of Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati while predicting thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in the districts till 8.30 AM on April 11, 2022.
