MeT predicts heavy rainfall in 9 Odisha dists

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash several parts in southern and northern parts of Odisha in as many as nine districts in the next couple of days.

“Very heavy rain in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Ganjam in next 48 hours due to cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal,” Regional Meteorological office said in a bulletin.

Besides, another system is likely to form on September 1 and seems to be stationary upto September 5. It may cause continuous heavy rainfall in north Odisha river catchments during September 2 to September 5.

“Strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast,” it added.

The fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
