Minister confirms 1, 000 dengue positive cases in Odisha

Concerned over the alarming situation arising out of the spread of dengue in Odisha, Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak today held a high level meeting to review the situation.

At the conclusion of the review meeting here, the minister told reporters that out of a total of 4,140 blood samples tested so far 1,000 samples have tested positive of dengue while confirming two deaths due to the disease. He said the deceased hailed from Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur districts.

“At present 115 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack”, the minister said.

The minister informed that a majority of the dengue patients from Jajpur district were from the Tata Steel plant area in Kalinganagar. Authorities of the plant have been informed through a letter to take measures to check the spread of the disease, he said.
