The agency had moved the court seeking a seven-day remand of the accused duo identified as Bulu Das and a minor boy.

The two along with their parents were arrested by Narla police on January 13. Later, the Crime Branch took charge of the investigation.

In a related development, another team of the Crime Branch led by an SP will visit Narla tomorrow for investigation, informed, BK Sharma, Special DG, Crime Branch.

“The incident has been classified as red-flag case. There was a dispute between the accused and family of the victim. The Crime Branch is probing into that dimension,” Sharma said.

On the other hand, the victim succumbed to her injuries early this morning while undergoing treatment at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela.

Notably, the girl was allegedly set on fire by Bulu Das and the minor boy at Madhupur village in Kalahandi district on January 11 evening after they failed to gang rape her.

The two had earlier passed vulgar comments at the girl following which she told the incident to her family members. The girl’s mother had cautioned the two youths for their act.

Getting furious over the incident, the duo allegedly torched the girl at her house in the absence of her parents.
