Naveen felicitates ‘Seema Bhawani’ women bikers of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated four women bikers of BSF’s ‘Seema Bhawani’ squad from Odisha who had showcased stunts and acrobatics on bikes at Rajpath in New Delhi during the Republic Day parade this year.

“Glad to meet the inspirational daughters of Odisha, who made history as part of ‘Seema Bhawani’, the 1st all-women bikers team from Border Security Force (BSF) that bedazzled the Nation by performing daredevil stunts on Republic Day. They are role models and an example for all that girls are lesser to none in courage & tenacity. We are very proud of them. Wished them all success in life,” Patnaik wrote on Facebook after meeting them.

Notably, six Odias– Mita Hansda, Banita Das, Rasmita Das, Krishna Gartia, Anushaya Samal and Subanti– were part of ‘Seema Bhawani’, the newly-raised all-woman bikers contingent of the Border Security Force which had impressed one and all with spectacular daredevil acts on 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles during the parade.

According to official sources, members of the women bikers squad were chosen by BSF trainers and are aged between 25-30 years. They were drawn from various combat ranks of the force.
