Now pay motor vehicles taxes, fees & fines digitally

Bhubaneswar: Now you can pay all kind of motor vehicles taxes, fees as well as fines digitally as the Odisha Motor Vehicle Department today signed an MoU with HDFC Bank for e-collection of motor vehicle related revenues.

The MoU was signed between State Transport Authority (STA) Chairman and State Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda and HDFC Bank Regional Head Debashis Senapati at the STA office in Cuttack.

As per the agreement, citizens can pay the taxes, fees and fines digitally in the offices of STA, Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and during checking by enforcement officials on the spot through credit/debit cards.

The bank will install 162 PoS machines in the offices of STA, RTOs, throughout the state and provide 195 mobile e-challan devices to all enforcement officers. The e-challan device has been integrated with SARATHI and VAHAN database to generate the Vehicle Checking Report (VCR) on the spot, said a Press release issued by the department.

The enforcement officials like RTOs, MVIs, Junior MVIs, Traffic Inspectors and Traffic Sub-Inspectors will be able to generate the VCR on the spot and collect the compounding fees then and there through digital payment.

With this, the issue of VCR in manual form will be stopped from November 1 and all enforcement officers will generate VCR through the e-challan device only. Through this device, the officer can also verify details of driver and the vehicle, including the history of offences.

Repeat offenders might have to pay a higher fine in accordance with the rule, the Press release further stated.
