Odisha: BJD leader AU Singh Deo not to contest 2019 polls

Bhubaneswar: With the countdown begun for the 2019 elections and attempts by leaders in all political parties are underway for tickets, senior BJD leader Ananga Udaya Singh Deo expressed his interest not to contest the upcoming polls.

After meeting with BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik last night, Singh Deo announced that he will not contest the elections this year.

“I will not contest the polls, but Naveen Patnaik will be elected as the CM once again. The BJD will break all the records with more number of seats in the upcoming elections,” the former Rajya Sabha member told media after the meeting.

Meanwhile, several leaders and new faces are being spotted at Naveen Niwas with the purpose of getting tickets for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections 2019.

Last night, former BJP leader Dilip Ray had visited Naveen Patnaik indicating the possibility to return to the BJD ahead of the polls.
