Bhubaneswar, July 12:

The Commissionerate Police in Odisha today recovered the body of a local dairy farm owner, which was found hanging from a tree at the Batu mango grove under the Khandagiri police limits here.

Local sources said Prahalad Senapati (50) who used to run a small dairy farm the local Shampur village had gone out on Friday afternoon to graze the buffalos to a nearby field. But when he did not return home in evening, worried family members looked for him in vain.

In the wee hours today, the body of Senapati, was spotted hanging from a mango tree by the villagers. The Khandagiri police visited the spot and sent the body to Capital hospital for autopsy.

While some suspect Prahalad could have been murdered, his family members rejected the murder theory and said the deceased was suffering from mental trauma due to serious financial problems.

“The dairy farm business was not doing well. He had two daughters and a son to look after. The daughters were to be married off and he didn’t have the money,” said a relative.

Meanwhile Khandagiri police have registered an unnatural death (UD) case , while investigating into allegations of murder.

The actual cause of death would be ascertained only after we get the autopsy report, a police official said.
