Odisha chit fund scam: BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy appears at CBI office

Banki BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy arrived at the CBI office in the Odisha capital this afternoon. He would be interrogated about his links with the AT Group, CBI sources said.

It may be mentioned that the CBI, during simultaneous raids on the houses of Tripathy at Banki and at Kaligali in Cuttack on August 16, had got some important documents confirming his links with the AT Group.

Later, the residence of his close associate Subash Padhi in Banki was raided and his bank accounts scrutinised by CBI officials for possible leads to financial transactions with the tainted chit fund company.

The noose got further tightened around the Banki MLA’s house after the interrogation of Ashis Sahoo, another close associate of his, on Sunday.

Fearing that he could be the next in line, Tripathy had applied for anticipatory bail in the High Court yesterday.
