In their address, the civil society leaders, while describing the ordinance as draconian and anti-people, urged the Centre for its immediate withdrawal.

“The ordinance has arbitrarily bypassed the democratic and parliamentary process of decision-making to dilute pro-people legislations”, the leaders alleged.

The ordinance is a conspiracy to snatch away lands from the poor and render them homeless in the interest of the multinational companies (MNCs) who want to invest huge capital in real estate business, they pointed out.

Among others, Prafulla Samantara, Narendra Mohanty, Prasant Paikray, Rabi Das, Biswapriya Kanungo, Sk. Abdul Wali, Mahendra Parida, Pradeep Sahoo, Lenin Kumar and Satish Mishra participated in the demonstration.
