According to national media reports, apart from Prime Minister Modi, half a dozen union ministers — Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari and Manohar Parrikar — will also be part of the council meeting which will discuss issues like interstate relations, internal security of the country and atrocities on SC/ST and minorities.

The meeting is being held after a gap of 10 years. The last meeting of this Council was held way back in 2006 when UPA was in power at the Centre.

The committee was constituted by the UPA government to suggest measures for forging better relationship between central and state governments.
