Odisha CM meets Jaitley; seeks Rs 500 cr as interim Hudhud aid

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here today and demanded Rs 500 crore towards interim Central assistance for damages incurred due to cyclone Hudhud.

Patnaik also asked for immediate release of the Rs 399.88 crore of arrear dues of Central assistance on account of last year’s Cyclone Phailin.

The Chief Minister urged the Union Finance minister for extending rural banking services to 4,597 villages in the state while demanding coverage of Naxal affected areas under the Jan Dhan Yojana.

Speaking to reporters  on the arrests of a BJD MP, a MLA and a former MLA from his party in connection with the chit fund scam Patnaik said ; “It’s their personal affair and the law will take its own course”.
