Odisha couple lands in trouble for leaving baby inside car

Dhenkanal: Leaving a baby girl inside a locked car in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district proved costly for a couple as police today registered a case against the duo.

The Dhenkanal Town police took suo moto cognizance of the incident and registered a case against the girl’s parents under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Sections 342 and 34 of the IPC.

Notably, an one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl was reportedly locked inside a car by her parents and was later rescued in a critical condition near Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital, yesterday.

Locals and security guards spotted the baby inside the vehicle in an unconscious state and rescued the child after breaking the car’s window glass. She was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

Parents of the victim, residents of Ananda Nagar in Dhenkanal town, later reached the hospital and identified themselves as the father and mother of the baby. “I had come to the hospital for ECG. We left the baby inside the car as she had fits,” said the father of the child.
