Odisha court allows police to take Bhola Bhagat on remand

A local court in Odisha today granted police to take a close aide of gangster siblings Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamant on a five-day remand from tomorrow.

Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here allowed the investigators to take Bholanath Bhagat on remand beginning tomorrow.

Several important documents including bank documents, pen drives, SIM cards and two mobile phones from his possession, police said.

Notably, a team of Twin City Commissionerate Police with the help of state reserve police (SRP) nabbed Bholanath Bhagat from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday while he was on his way from Howrah to Allahabad.

The team reached here this morning with the close aide of Dhalsamant brothers.

Earlier, Commissionerate Police had raided the house of Bholanath Bhagat, the owner of Metal Syndicate, at his Ranihat residence on February 14 for his alleged association with the notorious brothers. However, police had to return empty handed as he wasn’t present at his house.

Police had seized several documents from Bhagat’s house which showed his business transactions with the Dhalsamanta brothers. He was in know of the developments from the abduction of Deepak Mallick alias Dipu and Om Prakash Swain alias Om to their murders, sources said.
