Odisha court invites suggestions from public over Puri Srimandir management

Puri: The Court of District Judge, Puri today issued a notice inviting suggestions from public in the form of affidavits over management of Sri Jagannath Temple in the town.

The last date for submitting affidavit is June 20.

The Supreme Court had on June 8 directed the lower court to submit a report on factual aspects of difficulties faced by visitors at the temple, exploitative practices, if any, and deficiencies in the management, if any, by June 30.

A bench of justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and Ashok Bhushan of the apex court, hearing a petition filed by Mrinalini Padhi highlighting difficulties faced by devotees at the Jagannath Temple in Puri and their harassment or exploitation by sevayats of the temple, had asked the Puri District Judge for submission of the report.
