While the court had reserved the verdict yesterday and posted the hearing to today, Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court rejected the bail plea today.

Hansda is likely to move High Court to get bail to attend the Parliament session which is scheduled to end on December 23.

Notably, a member needs to attend Lok Sabha for a day in order to retain the seat failing which a seat is declared vacant on a member not attending sitting of the Parliament or Assembly at a stretch for 60 days.

It may be recalled that a Special CBI Court here, on November 26, had rejected the interim bail plea of Hansda.

The High Court, in March this year, had allowed the Lok Sabha MP from Mayurbhanj to attend Parliament session for a day while in the custody of the central investigating agency. Hansda had attended the last day of the Budget session.

Hansda, who is presently lodged in the Jharpada Special Jail here for his alleged links with Nabadiganta Capital Services Pvt Ltd, a major player in the Odisha chit fund scam, was suspended from the BJD since his arrest.

Hansda was arrested by CBI on November 4 last year.
