Class 10 boy student found dead in hostel room in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur; family alleges murder

Jagatsinghpur: The body of a minor was spotted today while hanging under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room in Lala Sahi locality under Town police and Jagatsinghpur civic limits of this district. However, his family alleged that the boy was murdered by someone for reasons not known yet.

The deceased boy was identified as a student of Class 10 and he was studying in a private residential coaching centre. He had been residing in the institute’s hotel for the last few months. He belonged to Gopinathpur village under Biridi block of the district and was the elder son of his parents.

According to a police source, the boy was previously admitted to the coaching centre in Jagatsinghpur town. His father had met the boy in the hostel last night at around 9.00 PM. It is said that the minor took an extreme step and ended his life later on. The minor was hanging with the help of a bedsheet tied around his neck when he was spotted. “However, it has not been ascertained yet whether this is a case of murder or a case of death by suicide,” Town PS IIC Gokul Ranjan Dash expressed.

On being informed, Town police reached the spot and seized the minor’s body. Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case in this connection and initiated a probe to ascertain the cause of death.
