Odisha DET-II test begins

The second phase Diploma Entrance Test (DET-II) for admission in 130 diploma and polytechnic colleges in Odisha began today.

A total of 18,305 candidates have applied for DET-II conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education & Training (DTET).

The test, being held at 42 examination centres across the state, has two sittings—one from 10 AM to 12.30 PM and the second sitting from 2 PM to 4.30 PM.

The district collectors and SPs are in charge for the smooth conduct of the test while special flying squads have been formed to keep an eye on malpractices and other irregularities during the test.

DTET would prepare the rank of the students on the basis of 60 percent marks secured in the entrance test and 40 percent marks secured in Class X examinations.

While the results would be announced on July 24, the counseling would be held by July 31.

Counselling for the vacant seats would be held in the first week of August while the process would be completed by August 15.

There are a total of 45,407 seats in 30 government and 100 private diploma and polytechnic colleges in the state.

While a total of 19556 candidates had gone for choice locking in the DET-I, allotment of seats has been made for 17,500 candidates.

Talking to Sambad, secretary of Odisha Private Engineering Schools Association (OPESA) Saroj Kumar Sahu said following the judgment of the Odisha High Court two and half months before the DET-II, more number of Class X students have appeared the test.

“We hope that there would be substantial rise in the number of applicants this year as compared to previous year”, Sahu said.
