Odisha Election Watch to get National CSO Award from ECI

Election commission of India (ECI) has selected Odisha Election Watch (OEW), the state chapter of National Election Watch, for the National CSO Award 2015.

OEW will receive the award for the best campaign on voter education and awareness for General Election 2014 and for its commendable election related measures in the State of Odisha.

Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, State Coordinator of OEW will receive the award. The award shall be presented on National Voters’ Day in New Delhi on Sunday.

The organisation, which started its journey in 2004 with an aim to strengthen and promote good governance with a view to further democratize the polity at all levels, has been educating a cross section of the society on political and electoral reforms continuously.

It had undertaken a focused campaign during Elections 2014 named ‘My Vote, My Country’. The campaign was aimed at increasing voter turnout, participation and promotion of ethical voting.

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) coordinates the National unit of Election Watch whereas PECUC, a leading civil society organization in Odisha, coordinates the state chapter of Election Watch.
