Odisha flood: SRC asks for distribution of emergent food assistance

Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi today asked the collectors of Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts to distribute emergent food assistance immediately to the people affected by flood, triggered by incessant rain.

The items and norms of assistance from the State Disaster Response Fund and National Disaster Response Fund provides for administration of gratuitous relief including food, clothing and utensils.

Gratuitous relief of Rs 60 per adult and Rs 45 per child per day will be paid up to 30 days to affected people not housed in relief camps.

A provision of Rs 1,800 per family for loss of clothing and Rs 2,000 per family for loss of utensils and household goods has been made for the affected people.

The SRC has also asked the collectors to open as many free kitchens as possible in the flood affected areas.
