Sushrii Shreya Mishraa shined brightly in her beautiful peacock outfit to clinch the crown of best national costume from beauties drawn from 28 countries, in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The second and third runners-up were China and Japan, respectively.

Last year too, Indian contestant Gail Nicole Da Silva had won the same title in this international pageant.

Looking like a princess in her elaborate costume, aptly named The Lotus Princess of Indian Literature, Shreya carried herself with grace, poise and confidence. From poetry to story-telling to memories of events, the gown showcased the national flower – the Lotus, and the national bird – the Peacock.

The costume designed by Melvyn Noronha told the story of literary artistry, right from the beginning of knowledge, to the Vedas, up to the scientific and humanitarian words of late Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
